In October 2012 Charlotte and Caroline met while training for their new retail jobs at a super hip clothing store.
Besides bonding over their love of Ina Garten, Ivy League intellect, and their silly boyfriends, they really celebrated each other's preppy with a twist styles.
By December 2012 the Denver transplants moved in together in a cute little apartment in downtown Denver.

Charlotte was raised in the Pacific Northwest, where the uniform is designer denim and a Northface fleece, and where she entertained ideas of going to art and/or fashion school. Instead, she shipped off to Massachusetts for college, in part to fulfill some odd fantasy that she should have gone to a New England boarding school (she blames reading too many young adult novels). She studied American Government and Environmental Science & Policy at Smith College in Northampton, MA, graduating with her B.A. in 2010 and then shook hands with Rachel Maddow in her cap and gown. While in college she started working for an immigration law firm as an intern, and moved into a position as a Paralegal post-graduation.

After six years in the Pioneer Valley of New England, it was time for a change of scenery (and less of those brutal winters and crazy Red Sox fans). She moved to Denver - she missed real mountains- and floated around for a while, finally landing a part time position at a hip clothing store where she met Caroline. Around this time she also was offered a full time position as an immigration paralegal at The Firm, which is where she updates Mountain Prep on her lunch breaks.
Her favorite brands include J.Crew, Madewell, Lilly Pulitzer, Brooks Brothers, and L.L. Bean.
In her "free time" she watercolors, bakes, skis, thrifts/hunts for antiques, and judges people based on their outfit choices.
Caroline is a former Boilermaker and retail maven from the Great Lakes region. She loves Bob Dylan, coffee, neutral colors, and always wearing jeans. Her fashion heroes are Alexa Chung, Princess Caroline of Monaco (in the 70s and 80s), and Katharine Hepburn. Her non-fashion blog is here.
She has also spent time in California, a blessing and a curse, as she now longs for the beach and a Mediterranean climate.
She has spent time walking the Seine in France, learning why French women don't get fat and how they always look immaculate, even when chowing down on baguette (one of Caroline's favorite foods).
Her European adventures have influenced her to simplify her life and possessions, which means Charlotte gets to scoop up her cast-off clothes.
A culinary fiend, she takes inspiration from Nigella Lawson, Ina Garten, and classic French Cuisine, and can often be found in our kitchen sauteing something, and making a mess of our granite counter tops.
Her favorite brands are J.Crew, Madewell, and TopShop. Do not let her wander into a Target, she will buy the whole store.
In her "free time" Caroline enjoys writing, reading, and learning about film production. She is currently writing the script for a sitcom (fingers crossed) with her nerdy boyfriend.
